Icom IC-M430 Fixed Mount VHF Radio with Built-In GPS
The Icom IC-M430 is a compact, modern 25-watt fixed-mount marine VHF radio featuring
Class D Digital Selective Calling (DSC), a bright color TFT display, built-in GPS/GNSS receiver and
full NMEA 2000 connectivity. Its exceptionally shallow chassis and clean flush-mount design make the
IC-M430 particularly well suited for modern helms where mounting depth and available console space
are limited.
Designed for both recreational and professional vessels, the IC-M430 combines straightforward VHF
operation with modern marine networking, active noise canceling, hailer and foghorn capability,
optional remote CommandMic control and an internal GNSS antenna. NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183-HS interfaces
allow the radio to exchange navigation and DSC information with compatible onboard electronics.

Compact Design for Modern Helms
One of the IC-M430's most useful features is its exceptionally shallow mounting depth. The radio body
measures approximately 8.0" W x 3.2" H x 2.1" D, providing considerably more flexibility
when installing the radio in consoles, electronics boxes and side pods where space behind the mounting
surface is limited.
Icom's new MFD-style flush mounting system allows the radio to be secured directly to the mounting
surface. Snap-on covers conceal the mounting hardware for a clean finished appearance. A conventional
flush-mount kit is also available for installations that require it.
Color TFT Display with Day and Night Modes
The IC-M430 uses a wide-viewing-angle color TFT display designed to remain readable under changing
lighting conditions. Three display modes are available:
- Light Mode for bright daytime operation
- Dark Mode for reduced-glare operation
- Night Mode for low-light helm environments
A dedicated control allows quick switching between daytime and nighttime display settings, while
backlit operating keys make the radio easy to use after dark.
25-Watt VHF with Class D DSC
The IC-M430 provides standard 25-watt high-power and 1-watt low-power
VHF transmission along with Class D Digital Selective Calling. A dedicated distress control provides
rapid access to DSC emergency calling when the radio has been programmed with the vessel's MMSI.
The integrated GNSS receiver supplies vessel position information directly to the DSC system without
requiring an external GPS source under normal installation conditions.
Built-In GPS / GNSS Receiver
A GNSS receiver and antenna are built directly into the IC-M430. This provides position data for DSC
operation while simplifying installation and reducing the need for additional equipment.
If the radio is installed below deck, inside an enclosed console or in another location where satellite
reception is limited, the optional Icom UX-241 external GNSS antenna can be connected
to improve reception.
NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183-HS Networking
The IC-M430 supports both NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183-HS, allowing it to
integrate with compatible chartplotters, multifunction displays, GPS receivers and other marine
electronics.
NMEA 2000 provides simple plug-and-play integration with an existing powered NMEA 2000 backbone,
making the M430 a good choice for new installations as well as refits of older VHF systems.
Integration with the Icom MA-510TR AIS Transponder
The IC-M430 can be integrated with the
Icom MA-510TR AIS Transponder.
When connected in a compatible system, an AIS target selected on the MA-510TR can be used to initiate
an individual DSC call through the IC-M430.
Note: The IC-M430 itself does not contain an AIS receiver or AIS transponder.
AIS functionality requires separate AIS equipment such as the MA-510TR.
Active Noise Canceling
Icom's active noise canceling technology helps reduce background noise from wind, engines and other
onboard sources. This improves transmitted voice clarity and makes incoming communication easier to
understand in noisy marine environments.
Hailer and Foghorn Functions
The IC-M430 provides up to 25 watts of hailer audio output when connected to a
compatible external horn speaker. The system also includes foghorn functions, allowing the VHF radio
to serve as part of the vessel's onboard signaling system.
Optional CommandMic Remote Station
For vessels requiring control from a second location, the IC-M430 supports the optional
Icom HM-195 CommandMic. The CommandMic provides remote operation of the radio and
supports intercom communication between stations.
Cable extensions of up to approximately 60 ft. (18.3 m) can be used, making the
remote microphone especially useful for sailboat cockpits, flybridges and other secondary helm locations.
The supplied HM-205RB hand microphone can also be remotely mounted using the optional OPC-1000
extension cable.
VHF Antenna Monitoring
Built-in VSWR monitoring can alert the operator to potential antenna or coaxial cable problems.
A poor antenna connection or damaged feed line can substantially reduce VHF transmit performance,
so this feature provides a useful additional diagnostic tool.
An external marine VHF antenna is required and sold separately.
