Overview
The Standard Horizon GX1410G is designed for boaters who want clear, reliable VHF communication and modern DSC safety calling
in a compact chassis. It replaces older Eclipse+ and Eclipse DSC models, updates DSC compliance to current standards, and
keeps daily use simple with E2O menus and microphone-based controls.
Built-In GPS: DSC Works Out of the Box
The GX1410G includes an internal GPS receiver that provides position and time to the radio automatically, enabling
position-enabled DSC features without needing to wire in an external GPS via NMEA 0183.
DSC Safety Calling
DSC allows one-touch distress calling and direct digital calling between vessels. To use DSC properly:
- You must program a valid MMSI number into the radio
- Built-in GPS provides position/time for distress and position-enabled calling
- The GX1410G supports DSC test calling so you can confirm setup before leaving the dock
NMEA 0183 Integration
The GX1410G still includes NMEA 0183 input/output for optional integration with chartplotters and other onboard electronics.
Many installs use NMEA 0183 for redundancy and to share position/time and related data across devices.

FAQ
Do I need to connect an external GPS for DSC?
No. The GX1410G includes a built-in GPS receiver that provides position and time for DSC features without an external GPS feed.
Do I still need an MMSI number?
Yes. A valid MMSI must be programmed to use DSC distress calling and DSC vessel-to-vessel calling.
What is the benefit of the separate CH70 receiver?
DSC calls are received on Channel 70. A dedicated receiver helps ensure DSC monitoring remains active even while you’re using voice channels.
Can I still connect it to a chartplotter?
Yes. The GX1410G includes NMEA 0183 input/output for optional integration and redundancy.
