A true offshore-capable handheld built for real-world safety: integrated AIS receiver, Class-H DSC, and internal GPS in a floating, submersible radio. The IC-M94D is ideal as a primary handheld for small boats or a serious redundant safety station for cruising and offshore operations.
Most AIS systems live at the helm. The IC-M94D brings AIS awareness and DSC calling into your hand—useful on deck, in the cockpit, during anchor watches, while docking, or when you’re away from the main display. It also provides meaningful redundancy if your main electronics lose power or are inaccessible.
Handheld radios often fail on audibility when wind and engines are loud. The IC-M94D’s high-output audio is designed for noisy marine environments, where intelligibility matters more than spec-sheet features.
6W transmit power supports strong handheld communications in line-of-sight conditions. The supplied 2400 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for approximately 10 hours under typical duty cycle. Expect shorter runtime with heavier use—AIS/GPS and frequent transmit draw real power.
Optional accessories (sold separately) may include speaker microphones and spare batteries depending on your operating needs.
No. The IC-M94D includes an AIS receiver only. It displays nearby AIS targets, but it does not broadcast your vessel position via AIS.
Yes. The radio has an internal GPS receiver, so DSC distress calls can include your position without external wiring.
For many boats it’s best viewed as a primary handheld or a high-quality redundant station. A fixed-mount VHF with an external antenna will typically offer greater range due to antenna height and installation, but the M94D provides meaningful safety capability wherever you are onboard.
