Our full-featured AIS receiver - now available with integrated VHF antenna splitter - Back in Stock!

The AMEC CYPHO-150S is a low cost, dual-channel AIS receiver. It receives AIS navigation data from AIS-equipped vessels nearby and improves navigation safety. The CYPHO-150S is designed to inter-operate with AIS Class A or Class B transponders and any other AIS stations operating on the AIS VHF data link. The CYPHO-150S comes with an integrated VHF antenna splitter.

The CYPHO-150S is built with two parallel AIS receivers in one box monitoring the default marine VHF AIS channels (161.975 and 162.025 MHz) with optimized sensitivity. Having the CYPHO-150S AIS receiver on board, not only can you monitor the status of the vessels in the surrounding area, but you also receive dynamic information (position, speed, SOG, etc.), static information (ship name, MMSI, call sign, etc.), and voyage related information (cargo type, destination, etc.) from any vessels nearby that are equipped with AIS transponders.

Its two interfaces connect the CYPHO-150S to NMEA standard chart plotters from Raymarine, Garmin, Northstar, Lowrance, Simrad and others, as well as USB devices such as navigation computers.

AMEC logoThe CYPHO-150S is IPX2 water resistant, providing acceptable protection against water and to provide extra protection against challenging marine environments. The CYPHO-150S has gained CE and FCC certification and passed IEC 60945 tests.

KEY FEATURES

Dual-channel parallel AIS receivers
The CYPHO-150S includes two AIS receivers operating in parallel providing true dual-channel simultaneous reception of both Class A and Class B transponder signals. This ensures that all AIS transponder broadcasts are captured in real time.

IPX2 rated
Water resistant

Viewer program included
The CYPHO 150S includes a free Windows-based AIS viewer program to display Radar View and Alphanumeric information about AIS targets.

Versatile interface selection
NMEA0183 (RS422) and USB provide connections for a wide range of display devices. This unit can also be powered by the USB port or via the 12vDC power wires.

Robust USB chipset and device drivers
Rock solid Microchip Technology USB chipset with device drivers for current 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows and fully compatible with marine navigation software such as Coastal Explorer.

CYPHO-150S comes with integrated VHF antenna splitter
The CYPHO-150S comes with an integrated VHF antenna splitter. This simplifies installation by allowing you to safely share a single VHF antenna for both the AIS receiver and your VHF radio. This solution works with any VHF radio. When you are not transmitting on the radio, both the AIS receiver and the radio receive normally. When you transmit on the radio, the integrated splitter temporarily blocks the signal to the AIS receiver and protects the AIS receiver from the transmission power of the radio.

Good Unit, Good price
I purchased this unit to replace our original Milltech Marine receiver that we bought before leaving on our circumnavigation in 2008. The old unit was still working fine and has been passed on to a friend. I decided to upgrade because the newer unit has the splitter built in which saves space and I prefer the option of having a direct USB connection to our nav computer rather than having to use an RS232 to USB adapter. This new unit is a two channel receiver and is very fast to acquire targets and updates seem like they are more frequent that with the original unit. Interfacing it to my computer and chart plotters was simple and the entire installlation took about 10 minutes. I already had little buss bars set up for the NMEA connections to the chart plotters from the installation of the previous unit. I really like the fact that I can see the lights on the new unit even though I installed it well behind the monitor on our nav desk. So I know its powered up and sending data without even turning on the computer. This is a good unit for a good price.

Nice Unit, Easy Install
Hooked right up, Both USB connection and NMEA 0183 were transmitting and showing up on PC and the Garmin. I have yet to use the boat to make sure nothing odd happens when all systems are running but so far so good.
