Our full-featured AIS receiver at a great price

The AMEC CYPHO-150 is a low cost, dual-channel AIS receiver. It receives AIS navigation data from AIS-equipped vessels nearby and improves navigation safety. The CYPHO-150 is designed to inter-operate with AIS Class A or Class B transponders and any other AIS stations operating on the AIS VHF data link. The CYPHO-150S is also available with an integrated VHF antenna splitter.

The CYPHO-150 is built with two parallel AIS receivers in one box monitoring the default marine VHF AIS channels (161.975 and 162.025 MHz) with optimized sensitivity. Having the CYPHO-150 AIS receiver on board, not only can you monitor the status of the vessels in the surrounding area, but you also receive dynamic information (position, speed, SOG, etc.), static information (ship name, MMSI, call sign, etc.), and voyage related information (cargo type, destination, etc.) from any vessels nearby that are equipped with AIS transponders.

Its two interfaces connect the CYPHO-150 to NMEA standard chart plotters from Raymarine, Garmin, Northstar, Lowrance, Simrad and others, as well as USB devices such as navigation computers.

AMEC logoThe CYPHO-150 is IPX2 water resistant, providing acceptable protection against water and to provide extra protection against challenging marine environments. The CYPHO-150 has gained CE and FCC certification and passed IEC 60945 tests.

Dual-channel parallel AIS receivers
The CYPHO-150 includes two AIS receivers operating in parallel providing true dual-channel simultaneous reception of both Class A and Class B transponder signals. This ensures that all AIS transponder broadcasts are captured in real time.

IPX2 rated
Water resistant

Viewer program included
The CYPHO 150 includes a free Windows-based AIS viewer program to display Radar View and Alphanumeric information about AIS targets.

Versatile interface selection
NMEA0183 (RS422) and USB provide connections for a wide range of display devices. This unit can also be powered by the USB port or via the 12vDC power wires.
Robust USB chipset and device drivers
Rock solid Microchip Technology USB chipset with device drivers for current 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows and fully compatible with marine navigation software such as Coastal Explorer.

CYPHO-150S available with integrated VHF antenna splitter
The CYPHO-150 is also available with an optional integrated VHF antenna splitter. This simplifies installation by allowing you to safely share a single VHF antenna for both the AIS receiver and your VHF radio. This solution works with any VHF radio. When you are not transmitting on the radio, both the AIS receiver and the radio receive normally. When you transmit on the radio, the integrated splitter temporarily blocks the signal to the AIS receiver and protects the AIS receiver from the transmission power of the radio.

Great unit at a great price. Have used more expensive units in the past and the sensitivity is not nearly as good. Easy to install with usb connection. UHF antenna connection was a great idea in comparison to the unpopular bnc connection of other units.

Thanks Milltech for a great little unit, I am very impressed. Performance is good up to 60nm out.The radio I was useing just didn't hack it running into the sound card of my PC, I am a shore station & run APRS as well, because of that there is a lot of interference from my other gear & also from the local paging transmitter nearby, but the CYPHO-150 handles it no problems. I was also impressed with the dual power capability, this is not well advertised but it will run off USB power from the PC or external power if only RS232 is used. Also no knobs or switches, so is 100% plug & play. 73, Murray, ZL1ARL.

Simple and works!
The device simple & works without any fuss. Fast delivery. USB cable was short though, recommended to get a USB extension cable.

Needed a simple AIS receiver with USB plug. Easy install, downloaded the driver and fired up my computer with Coastal Explorer, configured the Com port and there were the AIS vessels. Did everything I expected. Don't think you need to spend BUs to get anything better as this unit does it all.

I added this to my Coastal Explorer gps setup. I have the 2009 version of Explorer and it took a few tries to get it to run. The problem seems to be with the data ports on the computer won't automatically connect so I set it on manual but I Went back and forth a few times before it finally kicked in. It works, I can see several targets and it shows the speed, distance, and name of the vessel if you click on the vessel you are tracking. I haven't gone out with the boat yet, probably next week. So far I like it.

The device works as expected. Fast delivery. No problems getting this to work with OpenCPN chart program. Maybe a little too short USB cable, but it could probably be extended with an extension cable.
