Overview
The Comar R250 is a compact, high-performance AIS receiver designed for both leisure and
commercial applications. It receives and decodes all AIS traffic within VHF range,
delivering vessel position, identity, speed, course, and navigational status information
to chartplotters, PCs, and mobile devices.
When connected via USB, the R250 is powered directly by the host PC and streams AIS data
immediately, making it a simple plug-and-play solution. When powered from a 12/24 V DC
supply, it provides simultaneous USB, NMEA 0183, and Wi-Fi outputs for more integrated installations.
Wi-Fi AIS & NMEA Data Streaming
The integrated Wi-Fi interface allows AIS and NMEA data to be streamed wirelessly to
tablets, smartphones, and PCs. Configuration is handled through an integrated web interface,
with support for Access Point, Station, or combined AP + STA modes.
GPS Data Multiplexing
An external GPS NMEA 0183 input can be multiplexed with AIS data, allowing both AIS targets
and position data to be carried on a single output stream. This is particularly useful when
feeding chartplotters or PC navigation software.
