Integrated AIS Transponder

Includes a built-in AIS Transponder with two channel parallel receiver and transmitter. This high performance transponder means greater range and increased safety. Connects to 12 or 24 volt power supply.

Very Low Power Consumption

Designed for minimal power consumption, the XB-8000 is extremely well suited for energy conscious vessels.

Fully Water Proof, including USB Connection

The waterproof USB connection can be used to connect the XB-8000 to on-board computers. The XB-8000 provides a GPS and AIS data feed directly to computer-based navigation software.

GPS receiver

Includes 50 channel GPS receiver (with WAAS/EGNOS) and external GPS antenna with 10m (33') cable.

Silent Mode Control via iPhone / iPad or PC

Allows XB-8000 to be put in Silent Mode. When in this mode, the AIS receivers and GPS continue to operate normally. The only change is that transmissions are inhibited. Perfect for those times when you want privacy.

Self Diagnosis Status Lights

Multi-color LED keeps you informed of operational status providing self diagnosis that shows warnings if AIS, GPS or antenna are not functioning.

Dual WiFi Configuration

XB-8000 provides dual WiFi configuration as either a secure Access Point supporting up to five other devices or connected to an existing WiFi router providing WiFi expansion capability.

Wireless Access to AIS Information

View AIS and navigate from your PC or tablet from anywhere on your boat over wireless connections.

Easy installation

Mounting the XB-8000 is made easy with innovative cable connection points that create low profile installations. As well as being waterproof, the XB-8000 also has multiple connection options; NMEA 2000 / 0183, WiFi and USB connectivity.

Remote Transponder Control

Controls transponder and silent mode features remotely via iPhone / iPad (Android coming) allowing users to remotely control the XB-8000.

Increased Safety

With AIS your safety is increased day and night when offshore or in busy traffic areas.

Positive Identification

You'll have each vessel's name and call sign and others using AIS will also have yours. If you wish to call another vessel, you will be able to ensure you are talking to the correct vessel. This is very important when operating in busy areas or in bad weather when visibility is reduced.

Operates on very low power

Energy conscious users know how important low power operation can be, particularly on a long voyage when charging from solar or wind. The XB-8000 consumes far less than a radar, chart plotter or computer.

Excellent Performance, well engineered and easy to install
The Vesper XB 8000 is our third AIS unit and it is by far the best performing and most stable of all. GPS lock occurs in about 45 seconds from a cold start and the first position report takes place very soon afterwards. Reception of AIS signals from other systems is rock solid and has eliminated multiple alerts for the same target. The built in wireless feature in conjunction with a third party Seatalk to NEMA 0183 converter permits every smart phone and tablet onboard to become an instrument repeater. Now if only the device could accept an input from my ethernet bridge, I could eliminate my onboard wifi router completely....hint hint. Finally the iPad monitoring tools and the built in SWR meter makes a correct installation quick and painless.

Vesper XB-8000
The Vesper XB-8000 is very easy to install and integrate into an existing system. I have a Standard Horizon radio, Garmin 740s, Raymarine autopilot, and tack tick wind system. The XB-8000 slide right in. It is now sending AIS information to the 740s which in turn is bridging information and sending it back to the XB-8000. Now for the really cool part, I got iNAV for iPad and the XB-8000 sends AIS and other information to the iPad which plots the data on NOAA charts. The NOAA charts can be updated for free as NOAA makes them available. The Vesper XB-8000 gives me peace of mind as I cross at night the busy shipping channels leading to Mayport and the Port of Jacksonville.

Best AIS unit out there
I've gone through a bunch of AIS class-B units in the last 5 years due to various reasons, and I've had two different Vesper units as part of that. The XB-8000 is the hands-down best unit for a number of reasons. First, it's from Vesper, and their stuff is consistently the best from the software, hardware, and quality. Second, this one has a built in WiFi AP and radio, which makes it great to add to your existing WiFi network, or to create a new one. This allows me to have iPads, PC's, and other devices consume GPS, AIS, and all other instruments on my boat via a simple connection over the WiFi network. Plenty of people pay good money for a dedicated device that will do this, when the Vesper does it natively if you have it connected to your NMEA2000 or 0183 network. Finally, the reliability and configurability of the device is top notch. Easy to do via USB or over the WiFi network, and allows you a lot of flexibility.

Vesper XB-8000 Review
Awesome product. Programming, shipping and customer was second to none. Effortlessly connected to Icom VHF with optional antannae splitter and to IPad via WI FI. Running I-NavX and all AIS data is easy to see and interpret. Sailed from Charleston,SC to Abacos and never had a hiccup with this product. Check out Vesper Marines IPad to AIS connection tutorial on YouTube for even easier setup.

Working great
I am very happy with both the Vesper unit and also the service from Milltech. I had the unit in my hands just a few days after ordering, and then installed later that week. I am impressed with the reception compared to a unit that I had previously.

Vesper XB-8000
This is a really great product. Working with Milltech was a joy. All of my install questions were answered before I attempted the install ---clearly and without fuss or delay-he even returns phone calls---what a concept. Thus, the installation was drop dead easy. NMEA 183 streams beautifully to my Garmin plotter and the wifi hub to the iPad works really well. This unit and iPad software interfaces easily with SEAiq. The entire installation(replacing an older receive only unit) from box to first contact took less than an hour. Great job Milltech and Vesper. Ed Zacko SV Entr'acte

Good product, hope they add a few more features...
Works well, easy to setup. Not all my NMEA2000 devices were fully supported by the gateway; No rudder angle, barometric pressure, air temp. Wish it had CPA alarm with an external buzzer.

Great, easy to setup
I'm very happy with this. It works perfect with sending NMEA data to my VHF radio, ipad app, and chart plotter. Initial setup was easy, but two things took me 30 min to figure out. (1) you can configure it over wifi and skip the USB. (2) you may need to configure it for your NMEA bound settings. It picks a default, but it may be incorrect for you. I ordered the recommended antenna splitter and it's great too! The VHF fail over feature really works when it has no power (tested it). The splitter comes with one short cable, but not two. My only is realizing how hard it is to make one more VHF cables. If possible, just add one more cable your order for the splitter. It cost me $24 to mess up when making another short cable. You can buy the cables here starting at $12 and save you the headache. Sorry for the sales pitch, I'm a real customer that isn't good at soldering and making VHF cables.

Vesper marine XB-8000
I bought the switch with it and also a VHF auto switch so my two radios can share the antenna each on their own, mounted them all on a panel with bus bar for power and data out put and installed the panel. It all went together smoothly and rather quickly. hooked it up to power and the antenna, plugged my computer using the USB cable and completed the software set up and it worked without a hitch. It would be nice if the software included a rudimentary pc mapping program so I could see if it worked. For now I can't confirm as I have been busy with other projects and have not tried the wifi with my ipad. It seems to be heavily leaning towards either the ipad or their own Watchmate system to complete the visual aspect. I intend to send the data to a chart plotter when I finish the install, but for now the blinking light on the switch indicates I am now visible to the AIS world.

Received the transponder in time, easy installation as long as you do' nt take the nmea 01830 route, , which I did only using the Wifi. Connected the IPad with the ISailor app works well. Recommended product and vendor
