This portable magnet-mount GPS antenna is designed to be used with AIS receivers and transponders that require a male TNC connector. This antenna has been tested and works well with all AIS transponders and receivers that have a TNC GPS antenna port.
This antenna includes a 12 foot antenna cable.

What is the operating voltage of this antenna?

A:
This antenna takes 3-5 volts DC upstream via the coax to power the low noise amplifier built into the antenna. This is standard for pretty much all GPS antennas used with AIS transponders.

Other than interference of being inside the boat, are the receiving and transmitting capabilities of this antenna and an external antenna equal?

A:
This antenna works well inside the cabin but won't be as good as a marine grade mushroom style outside the cabin but it will be decent and provide acceptable performance. We have lots of customers using them with great results.
