Welcome to Milltech Marine

AIS, or Automatic Identification System, is the greatest addition to navigation and safety since GPS. It is a low-cost, high-value addition to your vessel that works with your chartplotter, on-board computer, or dedicated display so you can "see" AIS-transmitting vessels (even when radar can't).

How is AIS information displayed?
I finished the 450 mile offshore event a week ago, and the new equipment performed wonderfully.... So, wow, what a great purchase. Thanks again for recommending the right components – all right on target – and for spending so much time helping me.
-- Paul N.
The visual appearance of AIS information will vary based on your chartplotter or navigation software. For a real-time view of vessels transmitting AIS anywhere in the world, visit our AIS Live page

What will AIS do for me? AIS improves situational awareness and enhances safety of your vessel and crew by facilitating collision avoidance, safe navigation, ship routing and search and rescue operations.

How does AIS work? Each vessel with Class or Class B AIS sends out a data packet via VHF radio with information about the ship and its voyage, including name, position, course and other information. AIS receivers pick up these radio signals and translate them into NMEA data sentences that can be understood by a computer with the proper software or by an AIS-enabled chart plotter or display.

Can I install AIS myself? Yes, AIS is an excellent DIY project for most recreational vessels. We provide full installation support. For more complex installations and systems integration, we recommend working with a qualified marine electrician.

Why should I buy from Milltech Marine? AIS is all we do. We have hands-on experience with installation and use of all products we sell. We'll not only help you save money with our low prices, we'll also save you time and trouble with our expert and helpful support (before and after the sale).

When will my order ship? Orders submitted before noon PST M-F ship that day. All other orders ship the following business day.
