Description

The CSB 200 Class B AIS Transponder provides recreational boats and smaller work and fishing boats with a versatile, low-cost and high-quality AIS transponder that is easy to integrate with existing systems. Plus, the switchable transmit puts you in charge of when you broadcast your vessel's information.

Installation is easy: Connect to a PC running suitable navigation software, the latest chartplotters from Raymarine, Garmin, Navico, Furuno, Standard Horizon and more, or to a dedicated display such as the Vesper AIS WatchMate.

We are required to have proof of valid MMSI, so please also send a copy of the issuing document.

A Versatile AIS Solution

The Comar CSB 200 Class B AIS Transponder can also be used as a dual-channel Class A / Class B AIS receiver and GPS receiver. This allows you to connect the unit to computers and chart plotters and use the transponder's GPS and AIS information from other nearby vessels to display your position and other vessels on AIS-capable applications and devices. In other words, this device can function as an AIS Class B transponder, a GPS receiver and a dual channel AIS receiver all at the same time.

Connection to other devices is enabled via the standard RS-232 (using a USB-to-Serial Adapter if necessary) and RS-422/NMEA ports on the CSB 200 Transponder. This device can also be switched into receive-only mode by temporarily disabling the transmission capability.

The CSB 200 provides a small vessel with:

Automatic transmission of vessels own position, speed and heading to other vessels within VHF range.
A method of monitoring the position, speed and heading of other vessels within VHF range.
The ability to plot the progress, changes in heading and speed of other vessels on a PC or Chart Plotter.
A vessel's name, call sign and MMSI number to call up the target vessel on a DSC radio and ascertain their intentions.

INSTALLATION NOTES:

GPS Antenna
Class B AIS transponders have an internal GPS receiver and require a special external LNA (Low Noise Amplifier) GPS antenna. You cannot use a GPS receiver or a non-conforming antenna that does not match the required specifications. Class B AIS units will not function without a GPS antenna. Using the wrong antenna can potentially damage the unit. More in AIS FAQs...
For your convenience, we offer a matched GPS antenna at as an option when buying your CSB 200.

Serial Cables
Pin 6 is deliberately removed on the serial cable supplied with the CSB 200. Grounding this pin causes the unit to stop transmitting if this option is selected in the proAIS configuration program. In some PC serial ports, this pin 6 is grounded in the computer and will cause the transmitter to stop when connected to the PC. We recommend using the serial cable that comes with the CSB200 as other serial cables may not function correctly.

All sales of Class B Transponders are final. Once programmed with vessel MMSI, these units cannot be returned.
