A Versatile AIS Solution

The Comar CSB 200 Class B AIS Transponder can also be used as a dual-channel Class A / Class B AIS receiver and GPS receiver. This allows you to connect the unit to computers and chart plotters and use the transponder's GPS and AIS information from other nearby vessels to display your position and other vessels on AIS-capable applications and devices. In other words, this device can function as an AIS Class B transponder, a GPS receiver and a dual channel AIS receiver — all at the same time.

Connection to other devices is enabled via the standard RS-232 (using a USB-to-Serial Adapter if necessary) and RS-422/NMEA ports on the CSB 200 Transponder. This device can also be switched into receive-only mode by temporarily disabling the transmission capability.

To comply with FCC regulations, Class B AIS units shipped to customers in the USA must be pre-programmed with the vessel's information by Milltech Marine. We offer this service free of charge.

You will need an MMSI number, proof of issuance, and a completed Class B Static Data Information Form. MMSI numbers and ship station call signs can be ordered from the FCC.
  • If you plan on making international voyage, you must have a valid FCC-issued ship station license and MMSI number.
  • If you are planning on using your Class B transponder in US waters only, then you can get a free MMSI from BoatUS or SeaTOW.
For more information on Coast Guard regulations related to MMSI use, see the USCG MARITIME MOBILE SERVICE IDENTITY (MMSI) page.

When you are ready to place your order, please send all required documents to Milltech Marine via email or fax (+1-425-484-6218).

KEY FEATURES

Silent Mode
The CSB 200 can be fitted with a simple toggle switch to put it into ‘silent mode.’ This function allows the user to stop transmitting their position when required. This function may be useful when fishing at a ‘secret spot’

Water Resistant
Robust, coated aluminum case suitable to the hash marine environment. The device is designed to operate from -25 to +55 degrees and meets the IP67 standard for water resistance

Standard NMEA Interface
The CSB 200 Class B is designed to be compatible with all modern plotters and PC’s. The NMEA interface is the standard in marine connections and ensures simple installation.

NOTE:  Class B AIS transponders have an internal GPS receiver and require an external LNA GPS antenna. You cannot use a GPS antenna/receiver or an antenna that does not match specifications. Class B AIS units will not function without a GPS antenna. Using the wrong antenna can damage the unit. More...

For your convenience, we offer a matched antenna at discount as an option when buying your CSB 200.
