The ACR Nauticast-B transponder is a complete plug-and-play AIS solution for chart plotter or computer navigation.

Unlike receive-only AIS devices which do not transmit vessel information to surrounding traffic, the Nauticast-B announces your identity, position, speed and course over ground. Large commercial vessels and other AIS-equipped commercial and recreational vessels can be aware of your position, increasing your personal safety while navigating in all conditions, and greatly improving  security in low visibility conditions.

The ACR Nauticast-B kit conveniently includes all components, saving you time and money and making installation easier:

  • Power/ECS/PC interface cable (4 foot)

The ACR Nauticast-B Class B AIS Transponder can also be used as a dual-channel Class A / Class B AIS receiver and GPS receiver. This allows you to connect the unit to computers and chart plotters and use the transponder's GPS and AIS information from other nearby vessels to display your position and other vessels on AIS-capable applications and devices. In other words, this device can function as an AIS Class B transponder, a GPS receiver and a dual channel AIS receiver - all at the same time.

Connection to other devices is enabled via the standard RS-232 (using a USB-Serial Adapter if necessary) and RS-422/NMEA ports on the Nauticast-B Transponder. This device can also be switched into receive-only mode by temporarily disabling the transmission capability.

If you are connecting this device to a NMEA chart plotter, then connect the ORANGE RS422 TX A wire to the NMEA positive input wire on the chart plotter and the BLACK RS422 TX B wire to the NMEA negative input wire on the chart plotter.

Cable is too short on GPS Antenna
  Great unit that has worked literally non stop since it was installed without flaw. Buyers need to be aware of the 15 foot fixed length GPS cable that limits installation options unless one is prepared to extend the coax by splicing or by using difficult to find TNC extensions. I would give 5 stars if the cabling issue were addressed.
